Schräg dahinter am benachbarten Ludwigsplatz erblickt man einen Hochhauskomplex. Diese Hochhäuser sind einige der höchsten Gebäude in Gießen und ein typisches Beispiel für den raschen und wohl nicht immer konzeptionell durchdachten Wiederaufbau nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Die dabei freiwerdenden Flächen werden von der Stadt selbst unterhalten und nach und nach konzeptionell eingegliedert.
